Picturing Women Inventors: "Selective Blindness: Ida Bengtson and Trachoma in Rolla” with Dr. Kathleen Sheppard
Part of a series accompanying traveling poster exhibition Picturing Women Inventors, this free talk is sponsored by Missouri S&T Archives and SHSMO–Rolla.

Join Missouri S&T history professor, Dr. Kathleen Sheppard, as she explores the life of pioneering bacteriologist Ida Bengtson. Bengtson, a Missouri School of Mines faculty member, worked at the trachoma hospital in Rolla conducting research. The first female doctor employed as a scientist at the National Institutes of Health, Bengtson was sent to Rolla to study and stop further trachoma infections. Available in person at Missouri S&T or online from anywhere, registration is required.
