Basic Genealogy: Censuses
The U.S. Federal Census, conducted every 10 years, is a key resource used for genealogy. Join Associate Director of the Cape Girardeau Research Center Bill Eddleman to learn about the information found on censuses and how it has changed from 1790 through 1940. Eddleman will discuss special census schedules (including mortality, slave, manufacturing, and agricultural); a search strategy; pitfalls of census research; and using the neighbors to assist research. The presentation will also include details about census substitutes. Online and free, registration required.
