Mark - speaking of artifacts, I was surprised during a recent tour of prominent museum in DC that they had many high-quality facsimiles displayed in place of artifacts. I assume that's due to borrowing items or preservation concerns. Is the library going the facsimile route for any displays?
Beth Pike @ State Historical Society of Missouri
Beth Pike from State Historical Society of Missouri. Thanks for the sneak peak!
Hello! This is Amanda Wiltse from Mid-America Arts Alliance.
Mark, you mentioned that a lot of new artifacts will be on display after the renovations. Are there any new artifacts that you're particularly excited to display for the first time?
What type of events are you planning for the Grand re-opening?
Have the economic implications of covid affected the budget on this project?
Mark - Can you explain the process of how your staff work with the exhibit designers to create the exhibits?
What are some of the temporary exhibits being planned? How often will they rotate out?
What was the most difficult big-picture decision you and the staff had to make during the renovation?
Mark - we have a question from Facebook - "Will the overhead audio in the oval office still going to be running after the renovations?
Can you discuss the process you went through preparing the museum and library for renovation?
What do you think kids/students will be most interested in? What are you excited to share with younger visitors?
Speaking of your director, Kurt Graham, he was MAMA's keynote at our conference a couple years ago. He talked about this renovation, and it's great to see it coming close to completion.
Mark - another question from Facebook - Will there be any information about Truman's daughter in the new renovations?
Mark - question from Facebook - "What will be newly on display?"
Thank you, Mark! I'm thrilled to see this in person one day!
Thanks, Mark and Levi!
Thanks for a fantastic presentation!
Thank you, Mark!
