Coffee Break with BHE-TAC: The Intersection of SUD and Sexual and Reproductive Health
During this Coffee Break, we will introduce BHE-TAC’s recent publication: The Intersection of Substance Use Disorders and Sexual and Reproductive Health. This Issue Brief highlights the importance of providing substance use Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral for Treatment (SBIRT) in sexual and reproductive health (SRH) settings and providing contraceptive and other SRH services within SUD service settings. Subject matter experts who contributed to the report will briefly review the content and will be available for questions and discussion.

Jacki Witt, JD, MSN, WHNP-BC, FAANP - Jacki has been the Project Director for the Title X-funded National Clinical Training Center for Family Planning since its inception in 2006. She is a Clinical Professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies. Jacki provided health care services to diverse, mainly under- or uninsured, women for over 35 years and taught nursing education for over 25 years. She currently sees patients at adult and adolescent county correctional facilities near Kansas City, Missouri.

Lena Marceno, MSc - Lena is a Program Manager for Altarum’s Center for Behavioral Health where she manages projects related to people who use opioids and substance use disorder for a variety of federal and state government programs. Additionally, Lena has robust primary prevention experience, including at the intersection of maternal child health and substance use disorder.

Jenn Rogers, MPH - Jenn is an experienced director of family planning, women’s health, sexual health, and maternal and child health initiatives. She is the Co-Director of the National Coalition for Sexual Health, leader of the Coalition’s Health Care Action Group, and Director of the OPA-funded Link Study Project, which aims to develop a new model of family planning and behavioral health care to improve collaboration and coordination of services.
